Biography
Dr. Alexey Poyarkov received his PhD degree in the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry (NAS of Ukraine) dedicated to enzymes (particularly thrombin) inhibitors design and development, supervised by Acad. Prof. Valery Kukhar (Ukraine) which partially was completed in Proteochemometric research group of the Uppsala Uniiversity (Sweden) under co-supervision of Professor Jarl Wikberg under Visby Programme of Swedish Institutehas, in parallel he was involved in additional commercial activities dedicated to HPLC and MALDI TOF MS methods development. Dr Poyarkov then moved to the University of Limerick, Life Science Department (Ireland) to work with Professor Dick Fitzgerald, as Research Associate, also as participant of FHI (food for health Ireland) Consortium, working on generation, separation and characterization of health enhancing peptides derived from complex mixtures using (U)HPLC-MS and MS/MS, particularly, he was involved in new methods development dedicated to characterization of short peptides with implementation of bioinformatics models on retention time prediction toward LC-MS for that purpose. Dr. Poyarkov then relocated to Ukraine to join R&D of Arterium Corporation as Sr. Analytical Chemist/Group leader. In 2014 Dr. Poyarkov has relocated to Germany to join Kompetenzzentrum Ulm Peptide Pharmaceuticals (U-PEP) as research fellow (Pharis Biotec GmbH), working in the frame of Hit Hidden HIV project having deal with separation and characterization of polypeptides from body fluids. Then, Dr. Poyarkov returns to Ukraine and joined Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Company Ecopharm as Head of Bioorganic Chemistry Unit. In 2016, Dr. Poyarkov is appointed as Head of Physico-Chemical Laboratory Life Chemicals Inc. (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada/ Kiev, Ukraine). He is implementing and developing new methods on conventional and biomimetic chromatography, also working on separation of chiral compounds.
